For your final exam, you will be given a specific description of a Ceremonial Speech and you will need to prepare that speech and then deliver it and upload it.

Sometimes students find it hard to "act as if" they are delivering a Ceremonial Speech when they are just presenting to the camera in an empty room.

That's why I wanted to show you this speech. If you think back to summer 2020, the Republican and Democratic National Conventions were held online. The speakers delivered their prepared remarks to an empty room but they often delivered their speeches "as if" they were in the huge convention hall with hundreds of people.

A lot of people poked fun at this speech because of her over-the-top and exaggerated delivery style. When I saw it, I immediately thought of the Com 1010 Ceremonial Speech assignment and how students need to really exhibit energy and enthusiasm. Watch this speech and remember that for your Final Exam speech, you will need to present with the volume, gestures, enthuasiasm and energy of being at the actual event that I will assign to you.
