African American Culture: Historical and Aesthetic Roots - Sec 005
AFS 2010 introduces students to major conceptual models of African American aesthetics through readings of several authors whose books examine a cross section (a variety) of cultural forms – film, psychology, sexuality, and Black feminism. Not as an exhaustive survey but as representative models of ‘Black aesthetic experience’. Although the three semester texts are all required, we will target the reading of several chapters from each book; we will not read any of the three in entirety.
